Dear Prospective Co-op Parents,
Thank you for your interest in our school. The Menomonee Falls Preschool Co-op is a
cooperative preschool. It was organized during the summer of 1964 by a group of parents
interested in establishing and maintaining a school for preschool age children. We are a fully
accredited, non-discriminatory, state certified and supervised preschool. We are supervised by
the State of Wisconsin’s Department of Health and Family Services. As a co-op, Menomonee
Falls Preschool provides an environment where parents and children learn and grow together.
About Co-ops:
A cooperative preschool is a non-profit organization run by a group of parents who want to
participate in their child’s first educational experience. Parents help the teacher in the classroom,
assist in various aspects of running the school, and participate in making decisions about the
school and its programs.
Benefits to children attending the co-op:
- New experiences and a wider world to explore
- Experienced and highly qualified teachers who encourage their sense of self esteem and self confidence
- Encourage growth in understanding themselves and others and to like the person they are becoming
- Opportunity to learn about the differences and rights of others by playing with children of similar ages
- Teachers guiding children to find pleasure in developing new skills
- Play based curriculum that includes learning. Some skills that each child will be introduced to are: ABC’s, counting, recognizing letters and their sounds, colors, shapes, numbers and days of the week.
- Play equipment, art activities, learning games
- Field trips, story telling, music, exercise for large motor muscles, activities to stimulate small muscle coordination
- Parents in the classroom which allows children and parents to work together to build on new experiences
- A positive attitude toward future school years
Family Involvement:
Cooperative preschools are able to provide quality preschool activities because of parent
participation. As parents, we are the administrators, classroom assistants, and policy makers in
the program. Because we are all these things, the Menomonee Falls Preschool Cooperative
requires involvement and time from families. Some family activities throughout the year
include: Father’s Night, Family Fun Day, and a Holiday Party.
Parents Role:
- Participate in the mandatory Fall Orientation program
- Provide transportation to and from school
- Take turns being a parent helper in the classroom approximately 4-5 times per semester;
unless you choose the optional buyout *
- Participate in one Saturday or weeknight cleaning during the school year
- Attend teacher conferences held each semester
- Volunteer for a position on the Board of Directors or contribute in other ways as needed:
book order coordinator, laundry, sewing etc.
Field Trips:
Field trips are planned throughout the year to enhance the school curriculum. On the first day of
school, each parent is required to complete a Field Trip Permission Slip. Parents will be advised
of the date and time of all field trips as each one approaches throughout the school year. Field
trip fees are NOT included in the price of tuition. The 3K/2 day PM class will attend all field
trips in the morning with the 3K/2 day AM class. The 4K/4 day PM class will attend all field
trips in the morning with the 4K/3 day AM class.
* Buyout: We are offering a buyout program for parents who are unable to be a parent helper in
the classroom certain days throughout the year. The buyout is for parent helper days ONLY.
The parents who choose this option will still be required to do the annual cleaning and to
volunteer in other ways. This includes providing snacks on your child’s scheduled day. The fee
will be added to the first tuition payment on June 1st. The buyout does not increase the number
of times a non-buyout parent volunteers in the classroom.
3K/2 day AM and PM classes: Depending on class size, a parent must be able to be a parent
helper on Mondays or a buyout may be required (you will be notified if this is the case).
4K/4 day PM class: Depending on class size, a parent must be able to be a parent helper on
either a Thursday or Friday or a buyout may be required (you will be notified if this is the case).
2 day students: $180.00/year
3 day students: $270.00/year
4 day students: $360.00/year
*Extended Day: Throughout the year we will be offering an Extended Day Program at $10.00
per session for the morning classes and $8.00 per session for the afternoon classes.
Registration Policies:
- Children must be at least three years of age before December 31st for the 3K/ 2 day
